Coming from the DC area, Maya is a third year undergraduate student who is passionate about helping others. She is currently studying biology at the University of Pennsylvania with hopes of becoming a medical doctor. In addition to working as a Research Assistant at the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies at Penn Medicine, she also is the Community Service Chair of Penn’s Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers. When she is relaxing, you can find Maya listening to jazz music, reading, or spending time with her family.

Her interest in education was sparked when she began working as a coordinator for the Penn Educational Studies Program, which brings students all across the east coast to Penn to take courses taught by undergraduate students. Maya hopes to combine her passion for science and educational equity by working to increase the matriculation of people of color into STEM.
